The Advantages of a Background Check
It’s never easy to trust someone. Trust, nowadays, is more like a luxury, albeit one you cannot buy. Whether in relationships or in business, it’s important to know if you can trust the person you are going to be in a relationship or working with.
.
Looking into a person’s background plays a very significant role in determining his or her trust worthiness, or at least how far they can be trusted. A person’s past, while not necessarily defining what he or she is now, can give anyone insight on what to look out for just in case a person has some prior history of bad behavior. If he or she has turned a new leaf, then there will be nothing to worry about.
.
From a business point of view, employee background checks are a must, especially in positions that will expose the person to sensitive material that is essential to the company’s survival – such as accounting positions, as accountants can easily manipulate numbers to suit their own personal and criminal ends, while the unlucky and unsuspecting employer finds out only when it is too late. The same goes for nannies – will you entrust your children to someone you don’t know? The possibilities for abuse are endless, and sad to say, while there are those who are still honest, we can never really know. Many convincing liars, cheats, robbers and fraudsters are very adept at disguising their true nature. When they are finally exposed, they have already undertaken steps to hide or escape or elude, and once again, the real honest businessman or employer is left coughing in their dust, and to deal with whatever mess they leave behind. Background checks also help protect other employees, sparing them from being exposed, duped or unknowingly made into unsuspecting accomplices by these unscrupulous people. Business partners also need to be checked into, as many partnerships start off well enough, but fall apart when one takes advantage of the other.
.
When it comes to relationships, while trust is default, there are times when you need to make sure that you are with the right person. Especially when you are an expat living here, many people automatically see you as a target to be milked for all you are worth. It is best to conduct a background check at the very beginning of every relationship, while you are not yet significantly attached to the person in question. This way, if you are considering a serious relationship, you have to know if this girl is worthy not only of your trust, but your love as well. She will also have access to your things and other properties, so you really need to know if you can trust her.
.
A background check is a simple yet efficient way to determine whether a person can be trusted or not. It not only protects the person asking for it, but especially in business applications, affects the company / business’ as a whole, other employees included.

Being an employer myself, I can definitely relate to the importance of background checks for employees, especially those who will be occupying important positions. Because I’m on top of everything, I simply do not have the time to make check everyone’s work – which was the reason why a lowly accountant was able to steal money from me. The loss was not crippling, and the culprit caught and found out to have done the same thing in his previous job. A small loss that it was, but it was a loss nevertheless. A lesson well learned – the hard way. So I would have been best that I was able to have a background check performed on him before he was hired.

thanks for this great article! This is very informative especially those who want to start a business or want to date a local. I have seen many men been victimized by the same woman with the same type of style, and these guys don’t even know what hit them. I’ve been a patron of certain establishments you see, and have never considered anything more than something short term. Except that some chumps do, and most of them – I’ve seen a few luck out though – just get themselves needlessly victimized by these girls.

Jackbrowning: Yes, it really is important for employers to know who and what kind of person they are hiring. Like your experience, it’s bad if people like that get past you, thankfully your losses were recoverable and manageable. For some, the losses cannot just be ignored and let go.
Huttonsec: thank you for passing by and taking the time to read our humble blog. Yes, I agree that many of these girls have a modus operandi of sorts, and just keep reeling men in. It’s sad. If only more men simply asked for a background check, then they would have saved themselves a lot of trouble.
