The World in Cyberspace
The internet, or the World Wide Web (the “www” in every website) has become more and more a part of our daily lives. A lot of what we used to do in real life now has a virtual, online counterpart in cyberspace. Shopping, interacting with other people, dating, banking, researching, and a host of other things are now much more convenient to do on the web rather than engage in their real life versions. The social networking phenomenon has also been recently taking the world by storm, with websites like MySpace, Facebook, Multiply, Twitter, and Plurk becoming a global phenomenon engaged in by millions of people around the world, which include many high profile celebrities – just look at Twitter traffic and Twitter updates by these big shots and see how many millions follow their regular updates.
.
But with all those good things come disadvantages as well, and there are some who use the power and vast scope of the internet to be able to take advantage of other people. Fraud, stealing and even cheating can now be done in through the internet. And with the advent of these cybercrimes, private investigation agencies need to have a strong online presence as well.
.
This is one reason why we here at Thailand Investigation have established this online blog, updated once a week, to show people that we are here, and that we are actively engaged in helping people solve problems. The spread of the internet and the growing dependence on digital and computing technology is the reason why we have tools to monitor them, as evidenced by our offering of computer and mobile monitoring services.
.
John (not his real name) runs a small consulting agency here in Thailand, one which is widely successful. Part of their work involves being exposed to confidential information of certain companies and sometimes individuals. When he learned of our computer monitoring services, he enlisted us to install monitoring in his company, well aware that their company could not afford leaks. In the industry he is in, reputations count for a great deal, and any lapses in security, even a small one, would spell doom for his already successful business. Fortunately, for him, the monitoring software was installed in time, as we were able to intercept one of his employees being contracted to steal sensitive information. The employee said no (good for him!) but John now realized that not everyone would be as honest and loyal as that employee. What if he said no? What if he was fooled and deceived into giving out confidential information?
.
Through the monitoring system, John is able to avoid any leaks from within his company. He now knows what happens inside his computer system – what kind of files people send through email, what kind of things they post online from their work computers, what kind of people they interact with. While not everybody is in a position to abuse, this system ensures that people who ARE in critical positions are closely monitored – safety precaution that has paid off nicely for John and his company.

“The internet or the World Wide Web (the “www” in every website) has become more and more a part of our daily lives. A lot of what we used to do in real life now has a virtual, online counterpart in cyberspace.” – I could not agree more with this statement. I myself am still amazed at how fast and vast the internet is becoming more and more a need to many people from the luxury it was in the day. And with all kinds of stuff happening through online means, it is only natural that there should be mechanisms in place to help combat these kinds of unscrupulous activities.

The internet has indeed changed the way we live our lives. It’s like we have other virtual lives that are separate from our real lives but affect it at the same time. When I think about it, it’s just amazing and mind-boggling at the same time. When I was a kid I never could have imagined something even remotely like the internet, but my five year old daughter is whizzing through kid’s websites faster than she’s learning math. It’s really a big, big electronic age, and I do agree with you – parents must always go with the times and think of ways to protect their children at all times.

Cisco: Thanks for that vote of support! The internet has really revolutionized the way we interact with one another. That has both pros and cons, and while the pros outweigh the cons, it’s still important to keep everyone safe by having mechanisms to counter wrong behavior.
Hayespreston: Thank you very much for passing by and leaving your thoughts! I understand what you feel – when I was small, all I wanted was a bike, now, kids are looking for computers and whatnot. And really I agree with you how amazing the learning curves of children are.

I’m extremely impressed with your writing skills and also with the layout on your weblog. Is this a paid theme or did you modify it yourself? Anyway keep up the excellent quality writing, it is rare to see a nice blog like this one these days..
