Knowing the truth: How to Hire a PI Discreetly
Many of the people we encounter are embarrassed somewhat not only by their problems, but also that they need to hire a private investigator. We understand how they feel, which is why we always put a premium on client confidentiality and discreetness. All the stories you have read here have been published with consent from the clients involved, and names have been changed and little personal details have been included to protect a client’s identity.
.
So the dilemma many potential clients face is how they can hire a private investigator discreetly. For example, you feel that your business partner or girlfriend is cheating on you, so you naturally want to know the truth, but don’t want to tip them off that you are having them checked out, especially if they are not doing anything wrong. Here are a few tips to hire a private investigator discreetly.
.
Research yourself.
Many private investigation outfits have an online presence, which will make it easy for your to be able to look at websites and assess whether or not a particular PI agency can help you out. If you are using a shared computer, be sure to clear the history and cookies and cache so that other users will not know what you are searching for. To do th
is, simply go to the ‘Tools’ section of your browser and go to ‘Internet Options’ or ‘Options’ and clear everything. If you know people you can trust, you can also ask them for recommendations or ask them to help you look for the right PI agency.
.
Look for the right credentials
The best PIs, are those with law enforcement experience as well as a host of local contacts.
.
Make some calls and talk to people.
By now, you’ve probably been able to jot down at least a short list of possible outfits to hire, so you then call each one and ask for more details. Make sure that you don’t give a lot of information at once – simply tell the gist of the story. If you want, you can arrange to meet up with the PI so you can size up his / her operation see if they look legit. You can also call to inquire rates, as many PI outfits do not post rates online. If you want to negotiate though, it is best you do it with an agency you are more or less sure you want to hire. You also need to negotiate in person.
.
Finding a good private investigation outfit does not have to be a task riddled with anxiety and fear and embarrassment. All you need is a sound head and a little bit of effort to find the one that works for you. Be sure to be beware of unscrupulous agencies as well, as Thailand has no licensing for PIs, which means anyone can more or less claim to be a PI. But as long as you pick the right one, you will not need to worry a lot about discreetness and privacy, as they will make sure that your identity stays protected.
