Do You Want to Know the Truth?

We’ve received quite a few questions asking where we get our information and the tips we provide here. One source is of course, the internet, where our team gathers information and does research on different things.

The bulk of our advice though, comes from experience. We’ve been in the private investigations business for a while now, and we’ve come across different kinds of people from all walks of life, each with his or her own unique situation. While there are times when the results of an investigation are not exactly desirable – to us and to the client or to the client or both – we still learn a lot from what happened to others. It’s a classic application of the old saying “learn from other people’s mistakes”. We believe that while each person’s situation or circumstances may not be exactly the same all the time, our goal here is to get you, the reader, thinking. Suspicion and caution are not bad things to have in the start of an uncertain relationship – think about it, you two hardly know each other (and there are even times when it is precisely someone you think you know is the one who screws you over) and there are a lot of risks involved, regardless of whether you are entering a romantic relationship or a professional one. It is always best to be armed with the truth so you know if what you are getting into is legit, or if you are just being scammed and used.

We’ve also had so many clients telling us that “I never thought it would happen to me.” They read a few similar instances of the whole scam but they never thought it would happen to them personally. While it is nice to have a bubble like that to live in, the reality is that we do not live in a risk-free world. This is not only applicable to Thailand, of course. You have to realize that being prudent and practical about things above everything else is a necessity. In this day and age where the economy is uncertain – and to top it off, the recent political turmoil here – you need to protect your assets and interests as much as you can.

A lot of people pass by the right opportunity and timing to hire a private investigator and only realize too late how important a simple background check or preliminary investigation would have been to prevent their current sorry state. Or maybe if they just paused a bit and thought things through more, they would have noticed manipulative tactics and vague promises or even just to read a business contract more thoroughly.
